Size Matters: Facebook Ad Dimensions

If you know… you know! 🫣

A challenge when working within Paid Social Media is ensuring I have access to the best quality content in the correct size and sadly at this moment in time, my current agency doesn’t have its own design department (yet 👀). Therefore, I work with clients and feedback on their own creative assets and their suitability for Paid Social.
Once a campaign has been conceptualised, I work with the client to brief in some killer-creative that caters to each placement, whether that’s in-feed, Stories or the Facebook network.

What Size and Where?

In-feed

Instagram and Facebook News Feeds are a constantly updating list of photos and videos that appear when you refresh the app or desktop. These feeds include content from people you follow and from advertisers (like us).

Resolution: At least 1080×1080
File type: JPG or PNG
Maximum file size: 30 MB
FB minimum width: 600 pixels and minimum height: 600 pixels
IG minimum width: 500 pixels

Stories

Instagram (and Facebook) Stories add a bit of personality to your business, with the options to add stickers, emojis and interactive elements to your imagery.
These vertical ads appear to viewers between organic Instagram Stories and show for five seconds, or until the user swipes out of the Story.

Resolution: At least 1080×1080, preferably 1080×1920
File type: JPG or PNG
Maximum file size: 30 MB
Minimum width: 500 pixels

Facebook Audience Network

Audience Network allows advertisers to extend campaigns to reach more people.
These ad placements use the same targeting, auction, delivery and measurement systems as your usual Facebook ads; it’s simply a setting within your already built campaign. These work a little bit like Google Display Network in that they’d appear in placements not on Facebook but with links to.

Resolution: At least 398 x 208 pixels
File type: JPG or PNG
Maximum file size: 30 MB
Minimum width: 398 pixels
Minimum height: 208 pixels
